We recently discovered that our DBS Vantage LHD was bought as a new car by Louis Dollfus, a wealthy industry Manager who was a planes and racing cars enthusiasts ; Louis actually participated with a rare E.H.P (Etablissement Henri Precioux) powered by a CIME engine - see right picture here above - in the third edition of the 24 H of Le Mans ...This completes the interesting history of this
Aston Martin, that was later owned by Baron de Dietrich, before being acquired by a Swiss enthusiast.

Thanks to some Panhard enthusiasts, we have identified this revolutionary race car...
Early in the twenties, Harry Miller had considerable succes with his front-xheel drive racers, two times winner at Indianapolis. But this barchetta bult in the 50s is the only racing car that we know in Racing History to have combined front-wheel drive AND mid-engine. We now know that is a PMS ("Paul Ménissier Spéciale") / Panhard- Alfa Romeo, built on a Panhard Dyna-X modified chassis.

LOTUS EUROPE Series 1 : a major step in Sports cars History. Chapman brought the
F1 feeling to the road.
Lotus Europe - type 46 -, revealed in 1966 : one of the very first GT with
central engine, very close to a racing prototype...
Only a few have survived. Driving sensations are second to none. The
competition (type 47) version was an huge success on track.
The Avengers associated the sleek style of the Lotus Europe with the sexy looks
of Linda Thorson (as Tara King)
Sought after by most Collectors the modern GT are hand-built automobiles that
will never be produced again, because of the legislation, and of the
"marketing" demands.
Their market value is rising : Alpine 1300S/1600S (50-75.000 €),
early Porsche 911 short wheel base, 1966-67 (from 40.000, to 80.000 for the
"S")
A genuine Europe Series 1 (fixed lateral windows, chassis integrated to the
bodywork), is now worth around 35-45.000 €, since only a handful still exist in
original condition.
The Series 2 (and 1A-1B) are more affordable, between 20 and 25.000 € for an
excellent original example: well worth the price paid anyway for a rare classic

On the Stand AUTODROME at Rétromobile 2009, the incredible Panhard-CD of the 24 Heures du Mans 64, and a Ferrari GTB with "Vetroresina" bodywork by Scaglietti, in a rare original state.
The American specialised site Veloce Today (click HERE) features the CD- Panhard du Mans 1964.
This PANHARD-CD prototype raced at Le Mans 1964 is for sale at AUTODROME Paris.

CHASING THE COUNTACH LP400 SPIDER "Al Mardikian" ...
Classic car lovers need patience and tenacity to find some very rare automobiles... Sometimes, after long years of research work, you can identify and locate a very special car. Then all the efforts and time bring their reward : you can approach, admire and touch the car that you're in love with...
One Autodrome associate, who has been collecting and restoring Lamborghinis all his life, had fallen in love with a most rare, probably unique Countach LP400 Spider. Her reputation dated back from the 70s : the California based engineer Al Mardikian was famous for importing rare and exotic super cars from Europe. But homologating a Lamborghini Countach was then pure fiction, and don't even think of a custom-built Spider version : risky business...
However, even though it was never fully "federalised" the Countach LP400 Mardikian ended in the garage of the Rock-Star Rod Stewart. Very scarcely used, it remained unseen for decades...and was lately sold to a second owner, from which we managed to buy it. Mardikian was also known for providing a few spectacular sports cars to the producers of Miami Vice...

but it also "federalized" and modified European hi-end sports cars, thanks to its DOT-EPA- Engineering facility.

On June 28/29, all Sant'Agata fanatics were gathered on the magnificent Spa-Francorchamps race track. An important Lamborghini (and Italian classics) meeting was organised, with all historic Lamborghini models : 350 GT, Espada, Urraco, Jarama, Countach, Islero, Miura, Jalpa, Murciélago, Gallardo ...
Starring, the famous Miura SVJ Spider, formerly Autodrome Collection, and we brought the fabulous prototype Pregunta, belonging to our own Collection, and that we had only displayed once, at the Paris Retromobile Classic Motor Show.
The Pregunta was built based on a factory development Diablo chassis, provided by Lamborghini to the (formerly Bertone Director) designer Marc Deschamps, successor of Marcello Gandini, and who had already created the Lamborghini Athon Roadster. The Pregunta also differs technically from the Diablo - modified chassis, only rear-wheel drive, and front radiators - , and is an extraordinary prototype, that could have been the successor of the Diablo, if Audi-VW didn't purchase Lamborghini late in 2008... "Extreme" projects like the Pregunta and the Canto were discontinued, but fortunately, the Pregunta survived.
Autodrome acquired the Pregunga directly from those who built it : this prototype is now the last survivor of a magic era, when Lamborghini was still identified with the legend of Sant'Agata, and built the most famous and the most outrageous automobiles in the world. Fully driveable, it boasts the fabulous 540 BHP Diablo V12, and claims 333 km/h.
The Lamborghini Pregunta is powered by the all-alloy quad-cam Lamborghini V12 of the Diablo ; this automobile was hand-built in Italy: only one example exist, following the Lamborghini contract demands.

The very first Lamborghini prototype, the 350 GTV, is being quietly offered for sale at 3,2 Millions Euros. This car was formerly the property of Lamborghini and displayed at the factory museum.
This again confirms the strong market for very rare or unique models. This makes lot of sense when one considers that hundreds of Miura or Ferrari 275 GTB exist, and still their price continues to rise as a safe investment. For one-offs, fact is that demand will always be much stronger than "offer" (if the owner accepts to sell), and therefore, this category has still a potential increase on the market.
The Lamborghini Pregunta Roadster (owned by Autodrome) is now also the subject of offers from important collectors, in the region of 1,5 Million Euro.
MASTER WORK OF CHARLES DEUTSCH, THE FABULOUS PANHARD-CD PROTOTYPE (LE MANS 1964)
In 1964, the famous French make Panhard and Charles Deutsch (founder of DB, who will later design the Porsche 917 among other racing cars) team-up to create a prototype aiming to the victory in the small engine class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans... With only 850 cc, this revolutionary car could reach 230 km/h (half-a-century ago !). Only two were ever built, and the example offered by Autodrome is the only one complete fitted with the 5-speed ZF gearbox. The Panhard-CD remains not only the very last Panhard race car, it stands as a key mile stone in the History of racing cars.

This Lamborghini Miura SVJ Spider with removable targa top was presented on the Lamborghini stand at the 1981 Geneva Motor Show. It was the very last Miura ever presented in the History. It drew considerable attention from the public and from the Press, but remained unique. The concept of an open Miura triggered rumours about a Miura SVJ Spider limited edition. But this car #4808 remained unique.
Autodrome bought it in 2005 and displayed in the Autodrome-Cannes showroom for the pleasure of our friends and clients. We then undertook a bare metal bodywork (and upholstery) restoration in Lime Green at Carrosserie Lecoq, the bodywork restoration experts. The other "open" Miura (Bertone Roadster, 1968) is now for sale for over 2 M USD.

AUTODROME was invited to a really unique event : a friendly gathering of all the people who made the Lamborghini legend. Paolo Stanzani, Giotto Bizzarini, Ubaldo Sgarzi, Claudio Zampolli, GianCarlo Guerra, Orazio Salvioli, Fabio Lamborghini, Umberto Marchesi (chassis manufacturer) are only a few names among Ferruccio Lamborghini's Team that came to Sant'Agata for this exceptional days.

This gathering was focusing on people rather than cars, and very different from other events. It is very important to listen to all these key players of a period now gone, so as to record and preserve all the available information on the History of Lamborghini. This avoids all risks of distortion or mishandling of essential historical information. As Lamborghini collectors and historians, we have always strived to stay in direct contact with the former Lamborghini people, and we will continue to update and complete available information on this magical period.
The Lamborghini 350 GT of Edmond Ciclet (former Technical Director of the Lamborghini network in France).
This car is one of the earliest Lamborghini in existence, and it is of course in perfect condition : 1200 km, and back were just a warm-up.
As anticipated, this magnificent classic won the most sought-after prize of the best Lamborghini at the meting..
We also had the opportunity to talk Mr. Pasolini, the man who was in the mythical Miura Jota when it "took off" in the accident that destroyed it completely. Mr. Pasolini woke up at the hospital, and very luckily alive. The Jota inspired the creation of the rare Miura SVJ, now the most sought-after of all Lamborghini. Only one Miura SVJ was built as a Spider, and we have supervised the complete restoration of its superb bodywork and upholstery - see below. This restoration was done in partnership with the prestigious Carrosserie Lecoq, the best expert for this kind of work.

THE FAMOUS JAPANESE MAGAZINE "ROSSO" PRESENTS RARE LAMBORGHINIS OF THE AUTODROME COLLECTION
The famous luxury Japanese magazine ROSSO, specialising in classic cars, especially Lamborghini and Ferrari, was visiting Autodrome-Cannes a few months ago and has issued a long article on some of the "pearls" of the Lamborghini Autodrome collection (please click on the photos to open the 2 MB pdf document). The Lamborghini Motorcycle was not only the only Lamborghini bike in History, it was the most outrageous and expensive in the world, with high-tech racing features and hand-built quality. Only 5 in the world have survived today.. This one of course in the Autodrome Lamborghini Collection.

AUTODROME PARIS PRESENTS THE FABULOUS RACING CD-PANHARD OF LE MANS 1964
The famous charity event "SPORT & COLLECTION, 300 FERRARI AGAINST CANCER" took place last week-end (1-2-3 june) on the Val-de-Vienne Circuit near Poitiers.
AUTODROME was presenting the CD-PANHARD LM64, one of the only two extraordinary prototypes having taken part in the 24 hours of Le Mans 1964, along with the Ford GT40, the Ferrari 275 P and GTO... A perfect opportunity to meet our clients and friends, and share our passion for classic and sports automobiles around this wonderful and famous racing car.
We had the pleasure to park side by side the fabulous CD-Panhard prototype built for Le Mans, and the production Panhard-CD : both cars
demonstrate the talent of Charles Deutsch, and engineer who took the Panhard-Levassor story one step ahead - a wonderful end to a Legend.

In the 1964 Le Mans race, the last Ford to retire driven by Phil Hill & Bruce Mc Laren retired roughly at the same time as our CD #45.

As we indicated recently, the very first Lamborghini V12 continue to gain value on the market. This 400 GT two-seater, also known as "Interim" (chassis 0526), was sold 245.000 € at Pebble-Beach. This rise of the best classic Lamborghini - Miura, then LP400, and now 350/400 GT, as well as the Islero (90.000 € at the last Bonhams sale in Monaco), is consistent with the parallel increase of the best classic Ferrari.
Time is ideal to seize the best opportunities, whilst the 350 & 400 GT are now rapidly rising to their legitimate and true market value.

One of the best examples if probably the very first Countach (LP400), much rarer and more important than the Miura (around 130 Countach LP400 still in existence, against over 600 Miura). The LP400 Countach is without any doubt one of the most remarkable cars of the XX the Century, both by its History role for Lamborghini, for the GT cars History, and for its combination of outrageous, advanced styling with a state-of-the-Art engine and technical design. If you can buy one, don't hesitate even a second and don't let it go...
